On Sunday, 21 June 2009, the St. Croix Composite Squadron, Civil Air Patrol (CAP) hosted our annual Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast fundraiser at our Squadron hangar at Lake Elmo Airport (21D), Lake Elmo, MN. This is an annual fundraiser event for our squadron and helps us raise some of the needed funds for our squadron to operate successfully. The weather was cooperating and turnout for our event was very good. We had approximately 650 guests who had attended our event and enjoyed the morning with us. The main breakfast consisted of eggs, pancakes, sausages, syrup, juice, milk and coffee. We also had considerable donations from members, local vendors and suppliers in order to help us pull this event off and to make it as successful as it was. A silent auction was also a great addition to the event to help raise additional funds. In addition to a fine pancake breakfast, we had some feature attractions such as the Bayport Fire Engine boom truck, along with the Fire Chief, Mr. Mike Bell and two of his firemen. We also had a visit by the Stillwater Balloon Company who brought along a 12-person gondola for our guests to get a close up look at and to talk to the owner about ballooning. And as usual we had our Civil Air Patrol aircraft on display for our guests to have a hands on look at what we fly. Many of our members had put a great many hours into planning and execution of this event to make it as successful as it was. We had senior members on the grille, cleaning tables, working the silent auction, talking to guests and doing some recruiting. Our cadets were busy parking vehicles, directing traffic, and bussing tables and talking to other young people were in attendance. We even had a visit from such dignitaries as the Minnesota Wing Commander, Col. Thomas Theis. We would like to thank all of our members who worked so hard and put in so many hours to make this event a great time and a success.
