Year End Message from the Commander I would like to start out this year end message by letting you all know how proud I am of all the great work our cadets and senior members have done this past year to make our St. Croix Squadron one of the best in Minnesota Wing. September 29th marked a transition point. Both the Cadet Commander and the Squadron Commander accepted the thanks of the Civil Air Patrol and turned over the reins to willing successors. The new leadership of our squadron is strong and will help us meet the continuing challenges of growth, retention, training, and readiness. We survived the challenges of 2011 and look forward to the opportunities in 2012.
During my term as Commander you guys and gals all made me look pretty good to the CAP leadership. This is simply a relection of the high-quality program you are running. My thanks to you all.
- Major David Yost
My first few months have been challenging for me just to learn all the in's & out's of the job of Commander. My email box at times was overloaded with messages, but time has whittled away most of this. I am getting a bit more comfortable in my new role and much of this is due to the fact we have a great progam here at St. Croix - most of this is due to the fine commanders this squadron has seen. We have been blessed with many fine individuals who have come through our doors. We have seen many cadets who have come to us as unsure and somewhat akward youth and have left us as fine examples of this nations leaders who are wiling to take us boldly into the 21st Century with confidence. Some have gone off to post graduate education and some have chosen to serve this country faithfully. We salute all of you and the choices you have made and I know each of you will take what you have learned here and become better citizens for all. We have seen our numbers swell and we have seen new friends join us to make us even stronger than we were before. We have gained some new senior members who have jumped right in and made us a better organization today. We have seen some of our long time seniors leave us for various reasons like new jobs, family committments, overseas deployments and just changes in the next step of their lives - but each have left an indelible print on all of us and we are better for having known each of them. Now it is time to roll up our sleeves and get back to the busy work of another year of challenges, changes and new adventures together! I cannot promise what the future holds, but I will do my best to help each of you - to help me, make St. Croix squadron a leader in Minnesota Wing. Story posted by: |
